Hi Carl
Can you give any other info ie age and names of other family members or do you have 1851 census details?
There are several townships in the Gawsworth Parish apart from Gawsworth itself. Anything to narrow down the search.

hello Peter,
The only other thing is in 1845, Joseph marries a Maria Pointon at Gawsworth both were widowed, Joseph was  44 and a butcher, this should show on the 1851 census. The reason I asked for the 1841 census was to see if his previous wife was shown, thanks for helping.
                                      Carl
further more he was a husbandman and horse dealer

Hi Carl

Sorry could not find Joseph in the 1841 in Gawsworth area, the census is not indexed so cannot do a blanket search.
In the 1851 it seems that Joseph may have retired, these are the only Joseph and Maria's in the Macclesfield census districts. I did search Alderley as well.

HO 107-2160-F 514 Park Lane Macclesfield

Joseph Challinor head  51 annuitant  born Macclesfield
Maria                  wife    40      ~            ~    Alderley
Ann Wood          serv    16  servant      ~    Macclesfield

regards
