Any information on JOHN SAWYER FORD born 1856 in torquay but lived in london and was a policeman, would be appreciated.His fathers name was john ford , mother anne?

Hi Lyn
John Sawyer Ford is my great grandfather. He lived in Paddington after his marriage and then Kensington. He had 2 children in each place. He became an NSPCC inspector and moved to Chester where he had 2 more children. His wife died there and he then moved to Grimsby and remarried. Can you help me put with details of his life before London? I have specific dates etc if you're interested.
